He had his tonsils removed on Thursday and is now dehydrated from his inability to eat. I talked to Lana on the phone and Kristopher is pretty out of it because of medication and since he's little, he doesn't understand why he's in pain and why he can't go home. Poor little guy. He had to go to the hospital again, but got it under wraps quickly and I'm continuing to pray that his body completely heals and he won't have to go back again. I also wanted to let you all know that Ken Barr apparently was bit by a spider and sent me this e-mail this morning: "Please continue to pray for my healing. I went to the Dr. again Monday and he frightened me by suggesting an MRI to see how deep the wound might be and see if a surgeon might want to do exploritory surgery. I'm hoping and praying it doesnt come to that. I talked him into some more medication and a few days to see if it improves. Thanks again for everyones prayers. That's all I know, but Oran is fixing to have a procedure done on him as I type this. They've discovered the bleeding is from a lung and whatever the procedure is it is dangerous. He's been spitting and vomiting blood. They're going to do an EGD (scope in the esophagus) to see what the problem is. They don't think it's cancer, they believe it's either his feeding tube or his barracks disease (hope I spelled that right, it's a disease affecting the esophagus). Also, pray for Kayla Maddox's sister. Kayla is Pastor kin's sister in law (Jayme's wife). Kayla's sister, Danielle was involved in a wreck today and is in ICU. That's all I know at this point. He suddenly started bleeding profusely when he tried to go to the bathroom and was rushed to the hospital, where they got the bleeding stopped. The Drs. said he was 10 minutes away from bleeding to death. Well, he's still in the hospital and tonight, if I understand correctly, he was put in a wheelchair and the blood gushed out again. Bro. Shipp had prostate (he had cancer) surgery about 3 weeks ago. My bet is that this surgery has something to do with it. I think he was on blood thinners, too and it takes a few days for blood thickeners to take full effect, from what I've been told. Anyway, please pray. Sis. Another to pray for daily is Loretta Jelinek's son, Jonathan. He has cancer of the lymph nodes and has treatments every 2 weeks. His prognosis to overcome this cancer is good, but his treatments are very harsh and take their toll on Jonathan. Just pray for him to stay healthy, since he is more susceptible to sickness and for strength to endure, and of course, that he will overcome the cancer. Just got a call from Kim Butler saying that her sister-in-law's sister is in Florida with her dying husband (37 yrs. old, massive heart attack, in a coma, on life support, brain dead for a couple of days) and she's having a hard time letting him go. Kim's sister-in-law got to Florida this morning to be with her sister during this trying time. Kim is asking prayer for this family, especially for the wife, her name is Lisa Knight, that God would give her the strength to let him go, unless God wishes to do an amazing miracle. Here's the latest on Hunter and thanks so much for your prayers: The surgery was successful and the first thing he complained about was the catheter, which I take as a good sign. But, later he was complaining of pain. He was pretty down about finding out that the drs. don't expect him to ever play football again. Here's what Ambra posted on fb this morning: "Hunter had a great restful night. Should have Mri around 8am. I will let everyone know results as soon as i can.....Thanks so much for the continued prayers...." The MRI will determine if he need additional surgery. 514Diane Smithdiane_smith428@yahoo.com479.530.5859It's me again everyone with an update on Hunter. He has 1 vertebrate broken, another chipped and another buldging - all in his neck. As far as I understand, his cord was compressed, not allowing blood to get to his brain properly, but they have taken care of that problem. He's in ICU at Children's and is due to have surgery tomorrow. They just want to make sure he doesn't move and hurt his spinal cord. He's only 13, so that's good! He'll have years of growing and good healing. I'm praying that the doctors are wrong when they say he'll never play football again. Hunter and his family are all undoubtedly scared and devastated. First, Mike's Nephew had a baby boy (Jace)with serious problems with his heart (he has half a heart, basically) and needs prayer that he will stabilize and remain stable until he's old enough to get a heart transplant. This is Mike's nephew's first baby, so they're really struggling with it. Pray that God would use this to draw them to Him. Pray for a miracle for baby Jace. Second, Necole's cousin, Tatum, works for Carroll Electric and was doing some kind of experiment and something went wrong and he was shocked pretty bad. If I understand correctly, he's face, head and neck were severely burned. This happened just moments ago. They are rushing him to a Springfield hospital and Tatum's family are heading up there as well. Please pray for Tatum, that he won't have permanent scarring and that he would recieve relief from the pain pronto. Also, pray for all those hurrying to Springfield, for safe travel. Michael's nephew, Jonathan, and his wife Cristin are scheduled to have their first baby this week. The doctors have them in Little Rock until the baby is born because they have found that the baby's heart didn't develop normally. According to the doctors only one side developed and that side is now "bulging" from the stress. The baby will be taken to Children's Hospital for immediate surgery right after its born..Please pray that God will work a miracle in this situation. Thank you so much. Please pray for him and pray that he can make it until they get this surgery done. Melinda.." When she says please pray that he will make it until surgery, she really means it. Kenny is the one who lost his son a couple of weeks ago and David's mom told David last night that Kenny basically informed her that he is planning on drinking himself to death. Please pray that God would send people and circumstances in his life that would help him get out of this rut he's in. The Bible says that there will be no drunkards in heaven, but it also says that He is not willing that anyone perish. I'm praying and believing that Kenny will not perish above all. Also, pray for Kim Butler. She had surgery Friday. To make a long story short, she has no bones and has lost all hearing in her right ear. However, the good news is that she had no idea that she had a life-threatening disease in her ear that the doctor was able to remove. He told her that if they'd put off the procedure for even a month it could have diseased her brain and killed her. Isn't God good? The doctors are giving her ear 6 months to heal and then are planning to reconstruct the bones with titanium and hopefully restore her hearing, so we are praying for a quick recovery of the current surgery and that either God would heal her and she not have to have more surgery or that the next surgery will be a success. My mother-in-law called a while ago and said that David's brother (Kenny, the one that recently lost his son)is going through a bad drinking binge. She said that a neighbor of Kenny's told her that there were a couple of ladies living at Kenny's trailor and that some guy tried to do something to one of them and when Kenny told him to leave her alone, the guy wouldn't, so Kenny shot him with a shot gun. Fortunately, only one pellet went into his chest. Kenny probably won't be charged because it's self-defense, but he did get stabbed (Mom says it's not bad) and twisted his ankle in the process. Please pray for Kenny - for his protection and that he'll snap out of this drinking and run to God as he grieves. Pray for David's mom, too. This is hard on her. She's too old for all this drama. Natalie has down syndrome and the type of leukemia she has is one prevalent in down syndrome people, which is kind of good news, because the treatments are easier for a baby to take for this kind of leukemia, but little Natalie still has a battle on her hands. She's been transfered to AR Children's Hospital. She's in good hands, but please pray that the treatments will work and she'll be better soon. Please remember her mom and any other family affected. One is a baby girl about 14 mo. old named Natalie and she's in the hospital getting tests done today to see if she has cancer. She apparently has some kind of abstruction in her upper gastric intestines. Please pray that God would either heal her or give wisdom to the Drs. about what to do. The other is a baby boy who is a brother of a rider on a TNT bus. He's in the hospital with pnemonia and the infection has gotten into his blood, so it can spread all over his body. They also discovered a palupe in the colon the size of a lemon. We will get the results of the biopsy soon. Please pray for a speedy recovery from the surgery and that the results of the biopsy will be non-cancerous. Thanks so much~~" Well, John approached me this past Sunday and told me that Jim's got terminal cancer. He's in his mid-forties with 2 teenage daughters. She opened a pressure cooker before it had cooled down and got hot steam burns on her upper torso and left hand and left foot. The burns look pretty close to 2nd degree in some of the worse areas. I probably should have taken her to the ER last night, but I felt like the burns were not severe enough, and that I would wait until today to see about getting her to a doctor. I have been up all night with her, and she is finally able to sleep. She didn't know she was having a stroke, and called her son to take her to work. She was very disoriented when he arrived and insisted on taking her to Washington Regional. She has 2 blockages one 95% and one 75%and will have surgery today, Monday, as soon as they can fit her in. Thank you for your prayers for her and her family. Three of her children are here with her. The other request is for Jeannie Olson. She has had some severe pain in her left shoulder and down her arm. She has seen the doctor today, Monday. If the pain is not better by tomorrow when she see him, he'll probably order an MRI. Please pray is is nothing serious, for relief of pain, and peace of mind. FYI both of these ladies are in their 50's. They have lived in Springdale many years. They were both members of Beth Messiah Church. And both very active in local ministries. I have a request for Kim Butler, here's what she said: August 23 - I have got a good size lump under my right arm that they have been treating for a couple of weeks with antibiotics, (2 seperate ones at the same time) and they did an incision to drain it and then packed it. I went in 4 days later to have the packing removed an continued with antibiotics and on Friday I went back for a follow up to make sure its healing properly and he is concerned because the lump is still there and still pretty large and extremely tender to the touch, so he is sending me to a surgeon to have it surgically removed. I am asking for prayer because I am really scared. They are worried because it is so close to my lymph nodes, and I really don't want to be cut on again. This has been going on for about a month and it started out about the size of a golf ball, but has gone down some but wont go away completely... August 24 - Hey Diane!! Just wanted to let you know that they were not able to do anything for me today. His office is going to call me to schedule a time later this week to have it removed at the hospital under general anesthesia. He said it is too invasive to do in the clinic. His niece, Amy (around 30 yrs. old), went to the dentist yesterday and was put under for a procedure. When the procedure was over, they were unable to wake her up. At the hospital it was discovered that she'd had a heart attack and they were never able to wake her. She died at about 2:30 this morning. Her parents, Mike and Lois, are devastated. 479Diane Smithdiane_smith428@yahoo.com479.530.5859I apologize for not keeping everyone informed, but I've been busy taking care of my newborn, Karsten, so I'm just now reporting on the little girl that needed a heart transplant. Here's the latest as of July 26th: Monday, July 26, 2010 2:45 PM, CDT A miracle has just happened. WE HAVE A HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has only been listed 6 days and already has a match!!!!!!! There is still a very small chance that the team will get there and something will be wrong with the heart but it's unlikely. As of now it looks like the transplant will happen this evening....still don't know the time. Now is the time to start praying and praying and praying. Prayer is what made the miracle happen of getting a heart, now we need to continue to pray for a successful surgery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this is an update from July 29th: She has had a good day today. She has slept the vast majority of the day but she seems to be a little more alert this evening. All her vital signs are still good and they have been weaning her off the breathing machine today. They may pull the breathing tube out this evening or early tomorrow if all goes well. They have started her on the anti-rejection meds which is good but it lowers her immune system to low levels. We now have to wear gown and gloves when we enter her room. We found out today that she can not be around crowds, especially indoors, until around January. This means we'll home school her for at least the first semester and depending on how things go possibly the second semester as well. Once she comes home she'll have to stay there for quite some time and not be around a lot of other people. Her immune system will be supressed to low enough levels that she'll catch every virus and bug that goes around if we aren't very careful. Once the first several months pass she'll be able to slowly return to more normal activities. Please continue to pray for her and her new heart. There are still several complications that can develop and we would greatly appreciate it if everyone continues to pray for her.
